Terms of Service

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Acceptance of these terms

By using the VoltNav app or this website, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use VoltNav.

About the service

VoltNav is an informational route-planning and navigation tool for e-scooters. It suggests routes based on speed limits, bike infrastructure, and local regulations as we understand them, but it is not a guarantee that any suggested route, or e-scooter use itself, is legal, safe, or accurate at the time you ride.

Always verify current local rules before riding — see our Legal & Regulatory Info page for the regulatory information we track per jurisdiction, itself provided for convenience only.

Your responsibilities

You're responsible for complying with all laws applicable to you and your e-scooter, riding safely and using reasonable judgment, and verifying a route or regulation's accuracy before relying on it. VoltNav is a planning aid, not a substitute for your own awareness of the road.

No warranty

VoltNav is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any route, map, speed-limit, or legal-status information is complete or accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VoltNav and Paul Cote are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app or website, including reliance on any route, map, or regulatory information it provides.

Intellectual property and data licensing

VoltNav's map, routing, and search data are built from OpenStreetMap and other open sources, licensed under their own terms — see our Attributions page for full credits and licensing details, including how our routing and search data is derived.

Prohibited use

You agree not to misuse the app or website — including attempting to disrupt the service, or querying our backend APIs outside of normal use through the app or website.

Termination

VoltNav has no user accounts, so there's nothing to terminate on your end. We may discontinue or modify the service at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of VoltNav after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect.
